EF Johnson Ranger Ham Transmitter Repair PTT Installation Many problems discovered works now
This Ranger comes from a Ham in Parker, CO. Was sent to D-Lab for installation of my K2 push to talk module. Well after inspection, many other issues raised their ugly heads. I always expect problems as these transmitters are 60 years old! With a bit of patience and time, the transmitter will operate again. Half of the work was un-doing what someone else did in the past. Lucky the cabinet was not refitted with Ham-Holes. For a kit build this one looked pretty good. I did my best to point out things you should look at if your considering purchasing one of theses. Once you have a good working Johnson transmitter, you will never consider another.
