This santa died just like that I'm so disappointed

I opened it to replace the split gear, the contact that the black wire was connected to was filled with battery acid powder, I scrapped it off with the wet toothbrush, there was no batteries installed, it was another 10 minutes before I tried it, and when I did, that's when it was demonic so I didnt know what happened, I found out the wire was black on the inside, and by the time I removed that wire and tried the alligator clips, it didnt work at all anymore. But like it didnt reach the board so I still dont know, I feel like if I wouldnt have opened it, it would still be working, I just wanted to make a review of I today, and I was starting a restoration, and all I did was clean the contact and replace the gear, and after that it just didnt work. I didnt make any contact with the board in the process, that could affect this. this is not something that normally happens, but that luck always finds it's way on me I guess.
