Warned by his future self, he chooses not to save her, but to simply be with her in her final moments. When he returns, however, he finds that his traveling so far back in time caused a portal to open in the sky. Out of this portal came an unstoppable monster with spikes protruding out of its body. It became known as Doomsday. With the help of his Justice League members, Supergirl, Superman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter, Firestorm and the Atom, as well as non-Justice league member, Batman, they try to put the monster down. After trying and failing to lure the monster out of Central City, most of the heroes find themselves weak and wounded. But in a last-ditch effort, with all his strength, Superman uses his heat vision to pulverize Doomsday. When Kara checks on her seemingly unconscious cousin, she finds the Man of Steel dead. The aftermaths of this tragedy lead to a question of whether people with extraordinary powers should be kept in check. And this question would divide all of Earth's heroes. After the Vigilante Registration Act was put in place, every single one of them would have to make a choice.
