Generally, it is an inflammation of the prostate gland by bacteria. Chronic bacterial prostatitis is a common condition that lasts for at least three months and can be difficult to treat successfully. The symptoms are similar to chronic abacterial prostatitis, including voiding problems, pain in the prostatic region, perineal pain, scrotum and penis pain, and inner leg discomfort. The main difference is that germs are detected in chronic bacterial prostatitis. The video explores diagnostic methods, such as detecting bacteria through urine tests and NAATs for sexually transmitted infections. Antibiotics, particularly fluoroquinolones, are the first-line treatment, but they come with the risk of severe side-effects. Prostate massage, though not fully understood, used to be a common treatment before effective antimicrobial agents were available.
