Cafayate: Estradas Surreais e Vinhos de Altitude

We continued our journey along Route 40, crossing one of the most impressive landscapes in northern Argentina: the Quebrada de las Flechas, in the heart of the Calchaquí Valleys. Rock formations approximately 20 million years old create a scenery that seems otherworldly. We arrived in Cafayate, one of the most important wine destinations in Argentina. We visited wineries in the region, learned more about traditional grapes like Criolla Chica and the iconic Torrontés, and sampled some of the city's gastronomic experiences—some surprising, others not so much. Between desert roads, high-altitude vineyards, and good conversations with local producers, we spent two days exploring Cafayate and all that this place has to offer. 📍 Episode Itinerary: Secantlás ➝ Route 40 ➝ Quebrada de las Flechas ➝ Cafayate ➝ wineries ➝ craft fair ➝ local gastronomy This is another chapter of our road trip through northern Argentina aboard our Jimny with a rooftop tent.
