Posture Biomechanics [ Ankle, Hip and Combined Strategies] Part -2
In this lecture we discuss an important concept in posture biomechanics, that is the postural control strategies. The postural control strategies include ankle strategy, hip strategy and combined strategy which include both ankle and hip strategy. Postural control strategy comes into action when there is a pertubation or postural sway. Among this strategies the ankle strategy is the simplest and occurs when pertubation is minimal. The hip strategy occurs when the pertubation is high or when the Base of support is very small. Ankle strategy or synegry has a distal to proximal activation pattern of muscles, whereas the hip strategy has a proximal to distal pattern of muscle activation. important concepts discussed: 1. Postural sway 2. Postural control strategies 3. Ankle strategy 4. Hip strategy 5. Combined postural control strategy.
