En los alrededores de Alausí (Ecuador) se sigue usando la técnica de trillado mediante caballos. En el campo de la sierra ecuatoriana aun se conservan estos trabajos que se ha mantenido vigente generación tras generación. El uso de esta técnica ancestral se ha disminuido con la aparición de la trilladora pero en muchos sectores aun se realiza.
