Ken Bloom Bowed "Pocket Cello" Dulcimer - Bow and Timbre Experiments
I've had the Pocket Cello for about a week now - really excited to show off its sound and capabilities. With the sympathetic strings, it is perfect for medieval, baroque and Eastern modal-style playing. Here I am - noodling about with different bows and feels. My beloved Yayli Tanbur bow from Turkey, a Cretan Lyra bow with Bells, Pizzicato, and Traditional German-style cello bow. I've recorded the cello with a small omni microphone just below the bridge, angled up 45 degrees. Minimal EQ - a touch of Compression and Reverb. http://www.boweddulcimer.org/site-map
