London walk: Esher High Street, Sandown Park Racecourse, 40-minute Surrey walk - Narrated

A narrated walk around Esher Green, Esher High Street, Sandown Racecourse and Littleworth Common, Surrey, taking around 40-minutes A cold March afternoon with blue skies and sunshine gave me the chance to film Esher, Surrey. We start at Esher Green moving onto the main High Street which has a water fountain donated by Queen Victoria. Esher made its name as a stopping off point for the coaching journeys between London and Portsmouth for nearly 300 years, with activity centred around the Portsmouth Turnpike and the Bear Hotel. Sandown Park Racecourse transformed racecourses by charging entry and permitting women; it also ran the first ever televised horse race by the BBC. We pass by the White Lady Milestone which has provided distances to places in London, Surrey and beyond for more than a century before ending the walk at Littleworth Common.
