What We Actually Grow in Our North Texas Backyard Garden (And Why)
Come walk the garden with me. In this spring backyard garden tour, I’m showing you exactly what we’re growing on our North Texas small acreage property, not because it’s trendy, but because it’s what our family actually loves to eat and use. We’ve got grapes, blackberries, raspberries, muscadines, peppers, herbs, basil everywhere, and more tomato varieties than I can keep track of. I’ll also show you a simple tomato propagation trick that lets us turn one tomato plant into dozens for almost free. Plus, I’ll share a few lessons we’ve learned gardening in the DFW heat and black clay soil over the years. This isn’t a perfect garden. It’s a real family garden on a real “big backyard” property, a little wild, a little overgrown, and one of our favorite parts of living on land. And honestly, this is one of the biggest reasons people dream about owning a property with a little space. Not a giant ranch. Just enough room to breathe, grow food, let kids wander barefoot, and build a lifestyle that feels a little more connected and meaningful. If you live in DFW and dream about a home with a bigger backyard, garden space, orchard potential, or a couple acres to enjoy life differently, that’s exactly what my team and I specialize in. We’ve been helping people buy and sell small acreage homes in North Texas for over 20 years. Call or Text us anytime 214-216-2161 👇 Tell me in the comments: What are you growing this year? What grows best for you in Texas? What should I add to the garden next?
