Oluale Kossola, the Last Survivor of the Atlantic Slave Trade
Oluale Kossola, also known as Cudjoe Lewis, was brought to the Unites States on the Clotilda, one of the last slave ships, more than fifty years after the importation of slaves had been outlawed. His memories as the last known survivor of the middle passage offer an almost lost insight into history, and poignant wisdom from a man who lived through enormous change.
