The CDH Mum - Inserting a nasogastric tube for Alfie

It’s been a while in between videos so I thought I’d upload this one of Alfie’s nasogastric tube insertion. I had watched Alfie’s nasogastric tube be replaced so many times and I didn’t like having to take him into hospital each time he needed it replaced as sometimes he was kept waiting - once 6 hours - and I didn’t want Alfie to start associating hospitals with being a place where bad things happen as we quite often go to hospital for his outpatient appointments. The first couple of times were daunting but I could probably do this blindfolded now! (I also come having a nursing background). It’s hard to do something so unpleasant to a baby - especially my own - but I am comfortable in my decision that it is what’s best for Alfie, and we get big cuddles after it. *Please don’t attempt inserting nasogastric tubes into anybody (especially babies/children) without the appropriate training first. If inserted incorrectly these tubes can sometimes end up being inserted into the lung.
