Camino De Santiago Day 25: Bercianos del Real Camino to Mansilla De Las Mulas, Spain 26 km (16.15 miles) Another scorcher. Seems to be the daily trend this week. We walked. We sweat. We finally stopped at a rest area outside of Mansilla De Las Mulas and drank vino tinto. We met some new pilgrim faces. The highlight of today was the amazing casa we stayed in. I had no idea when I reserved it that we had the entire casa to ourselves. All that space was honestly a little intimidating since we haven't had that in 25 days. Two thumbs up for Casa Mencia in Mansilla De Las Mulas for anyone considering the Camino De Santiago. Such a beautiful accomodation. We had 4 bedrooms to choose from and we both chose the bottom floor bedroom. Andre chose it because temperature wise it was the coolest, I chose it because the soft colors and cross stitch art spoke to my childhood soul. We really enjoyed this town. Did our usual super mercado, banco, farmacia, and church visits. We picked up ingredients for spaghetti since we both were craving something from home and Andre makes the best spaghetti. I enjoyed watching Andre cook (he enjoys cooking and I enjoy eating) while I put my feet up and helped drink a bottle of Camino Frances vino tinto. The place also had it's own washer/dryer. We listened to music, the rain outside, finished laundry, and thoroughly relished every single bite of spaghetti homemade goodness. Next, we went on the hunt for a stamp to document on our pilgrim passports. We found another albergue nearby with a massive tree. It's branches covered the entire courtyard. It was beautiful watching the rain and enjoying a sangria under the blanket of protective branches. The restaurant/albergue owner informed us the tree was 85 years old. We returned back to our casa for the evening and considered playing "Hide and Seek". I think staying in the childlike room with dinosaur sheets was getting to our heads, probably the vino tinto too. But, our feet ached. So instead, sleep won. Tomorrow, we are very excited to enter the beautiful city of Leon. See you manana! Agárrate a tu hija/hijo como yo!
