Bandra’s iconic St Andrew’s Church, one of Mumbai’s oldest surviving buildings, has reopened after a 20-month restoration that brought back several original features dating to 1575 AD. The restoration revealed historic architectural elements that had been hidden for decades — including the choir loft windows, Portuguese-style façade, and traditional lime-plaster finish. Former Archbishop Oswald Cardinal Gracias rededicated the restored church in the presence of over 1,000 worshippers, marking an emotional moment for the Bandra community just ahead of Christmas.
