Uganda to produce fertilizer locally, saving USD 300 million annually

Since Uganda imports 300,000 metric tonnes of fertilizers annually, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and investors from Itracom Fertilizer Ltd, a Burundian firm, have signed an agreement to enable the company to establish an $80 million fertilizer manufacturing plant. The company is expected to produce 350,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer in Kampiringisa, primarily using cow dung as raw material supplied by local farmers.
