Depois de Juha Kankkunen em 2001, um Campeão do Mundo volta a ganhar o Azores Rallye. Veio com a namorada e navegadora, Laurène Godey, para divertir-se, experimentar um novo carro - o Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 - e disputar um dos mais belos ralis do mundo, que só conhecia da televisão. Mas não se é 9 vezes Campeão do WRC por acaso e Sébastien Loeb chegou, viu e venceu, batendo o teoricamente favorito Andreas Mikkelsen, em carro idêntico. Mikkelsen conhecia melhor, quer a equipa Toksport WRT, quer o Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, quer ainda o Azores Rallye, que já venceu por duas vezes.
