Avon Valley Railway | ‘Southern Suburban Veterans Gala' 10/11/18

As this years season of running for most lines comes to a close, the Avon Valley Railway held their annual Gala in connection with the end of season. The theme quickly became 'Southern Suburban Veterans' after both Ex-LBSCR 'Terrier' 32678 and Ex-LSWR 'Beattie well-tank' 30587 were confirmed as the guests for the event, and it is reckoned that this is the first time in preservation the two classes have met. They ran alongside resident locos in the form of Fablok Tank n.o.4015 'Karel' and Austerity Saddle Tank WD132 'Sapper' during the event. The event also commemorated the 2,833 Midland Railway workers who gave their lives during the Great War of 1914-1918 a century ago.
