Mariahilfer Straße is Vienna's main shopping mile and it earns it — long, busy, lined with every shop you'd expect. Walked the whole thing from Westbahnhof, through the crowds and the storefronts, until you reach an nondescript entrance and the city suddenly opens up into Museumsquartier, a place filled with different kind of museums. And not too far from that: two enormous identical museums face each other since the 1800s. The Kunsthistorisches and the Naturhistorisches. Art and nature. The buildings look the same, the worlds are different. No commentary.
