If a colony has entered swarming mode and doesn't show any signs of emerging, don't bother removing queen cells. It's best to assess the colony's strength and create a split with the old queen. Take a frame of bee bread and place it first, then a small empty frame of food so the queen has a place to lay eggs, then a frame with brood on the nest, and a frame with food. If the colony is strong, we can place two frames with bees on the nest. We need to assess the situation ourselves to avoid weakening the production colony. Remember to add some bees to cover the frames. If we're creating a split in the same apiary, we need to cool it down and close it for about three days. If it's cool and the bees aren't flying, we can leave it in place. Check the number of bees after opening the entrance or after leaving the hive in place. Flight bees can fly out, and we need to ensure an adequate number of bees in the split. If we notice that the bees are low, we need to replenish them by taking bees from a frame with open brood. There's a young bee there. After adding more, we need to check the number of bees again. If possible, it's best to move the nuc to a nearby location for a few days. They'll hatch and we'll have peace of mind. During transport, it's essential to secure the frames to ensure stability. We don't want to crush the bees or the queen.
