Gronell, dalla Lessinia alla Città

Mountain shoes in the city. An important choice, a move that could be described as counter-trend, because the historic center of Verona, now populated by major international brands, has recently welcomed a local family back, from the Lessinia area where, over 60 years ago, they began producing mountain shoes. Nello Grossule, now a brilliant ninety-year-old, began the business in the years immediately after World War II, following in the footsteps and passion passed down to him by his shoemaker father. He began producing mountain shoes, a destiny sealed given his origins, the Veronese mountains, and who better than him could have understood the needs of those who lived and worked there? The result was boots that became legendary, both for their durability and comfort, a combination not always easy to achieve. But the quality of his work, recognized even by the Armed Forces, to which his company supplied for several years, was immediately appreciated and destined for a longevity that has continued to this day. It was not an easy journey, however, especially when, about twenty years ago, he decided to resist the temptation to relocate the company, a path many of his colleagues instead chose. He resisted, maintaining his business and employment, because Lessinia was his home. And now another step: his family, who have since taken over the management of the company, recently decided to open a store in the city of Verona, where Nello often went, at the beginning of his career, to sell shoes and source leather. A new challenge, arrived at a difficult time, but full of optimism and hope.
