The Montana (BB-67)---A Backbreaking Beast! (World of Warships Gameplay)

An evolution of the Iowa-class "fast battleships", the Montana class battleships were larger, better-armored, and more heavily armed than their Iowa-class cousins. The main armament was expanded to include twelve 406 mm guns arranged in four triple-gun turrets. The preliminary design work had commenced even before the United States entered World War II. The attack on Pearl Harbor delayed construction, and the success of aircraft carriers in the Battle of the Coral Sea and Battle of Midway prompted the U.S. to opt against pursuing the Montana class in favor of more promising ship types. But what would happen if one came to full construction? Enter the Montana. The cover of night couldn't hide the raw firepower of 406mm as in today’s video, the Tier X powerhouse USS Montana (BB-67) is sent into the pitch-black chaos of Operation: Tokyo Express. What follows later is an absolute masterclass in positioning, heavy broadside management, and survival against overwhelming odds. Patrolling through the waters like a ninja whilst avoiding illumination/star shells, the silence briefly shattered by the sudden roar of AP volley after volley, the Montana racks up a massive run, farming 305.5K damage at the end of the battle as it sinks 6 vessels and damages 7 more in its wake. But the climax of it all is toward the very end as the Montana’s twelve 406mm guns absolutely punish the darkness, engaging in brutal, close-quarters combat against the legendary IJN super-battleship Yamato. When the 18.1-inch guns met the ultimate American beast design under the flare light, only one could walk away as it was like a naval variation of a Wild West showdown. If you love massive damage milestones, clutch armor angling, and epic battleship duels, this is a match you need to see to believe! #worldofwarships #battleship #wows #wowsreplays
