Now 50% OFF: https://hpcdmy.co/datCAD At the core of Dylan Auton's Datsun 1600 (aka Datsun 510 or Datsun Bluebird) build is a stroked 850hp NA 6.0-litre Nissan VK56 V8 developed by Kelly Racing for the Australian Supercars competition. A dry sump system allows the 90-degree V8 to sit low in the chassis, while an Albins rear-mounted transaxle improves weight distribution and packaging. To meet Pro Open Class world time attack regulations, the engine fits between the original strut towers, driving extensive custom fabrication throughout the car, including a pretty wild steering setup. Suspension geometry was developed digitally with a dual A-arm layout front and rear, using adapted V8 Supercar uprights, hubs, and centre lock wheels. CAD design and modern manufacturing were central to the build. Many components were designed in Fusion 3D modelling software, prototyped with 3D printing, then CNC machined. Final 3D printed parts include intake boxes and a MoTeC power distribution module mount. Aerodynamics were developed specifically for World Time Attack with Andrew Brilliant from AM Aero, using full 3D scanning and CAD-based aero design. CNC machined bucks were used to produce carbon fibre components, manufactured by Australian Fibreglass and Composites.
