Born in 1951 he was a chorister at Ripon Cathedral, studied composition with Herbert Howells at the Royal College of Music, then a teacher in Worcester and Lay-Clerk at the Cathedral. 'Doubt not thy Father's care' is from Elgar's 'The Light of Life' and first performed in Worcester Cathedral at the Three Choirs Festival 1896.
