Hiking & Camping in the Mountains of Western Sichuan, China

At the end of May, I joined a small team to scout a trekking route with views of Mount Gongga (Minya Konka), the highest mountain in Sichuan. The trek itself wasn't particularly difficult, but camping above 4,500 meters turned out to be a completely different challenge. This was my first time backpacking and spending a night at such a high altitude. Unfortunately, I got hit by altitude sickness and ended up throwing up in the middle of the night. But despite that, waking up to the incredible mountain views the next morning made it all worthwhile. This is also the start of a new chapter for me. I'll be spending some time living in Chengdu, exploring more trails across Western Sichuan, training for my first technical alpine climb, and documenting what it's like to be a digital nomad in China.
