A minor change in Japan in May 2016 saw the exterior and interior revamp, with the addition of inline-type full LED headlights and LED fog lights at the front, and light-guiding LED position lamps, while the rear stop lamps and taillights were also upgraded to LED. The body color was also changed, with "Deep Aurora Metallic (optional color)," "Premium Deep Rosso Pearl (optional color)," and "Lunar Silver Metallic" replacing the "Modern Steel Metallic," "Alabaster Silver Metallic," and "Champagne Platinum Metallic" (optional colors) available on the June 2013 model. The interior saw a change in the color tone of the woodgrain panels, as well as the adoption of mirror black panels and gloss one black panels. The "HYBRID EX" model was equipped with side sill garnishes, a trunk spoiler, 18-inch aluminum wheels, and exclusive sports combination seats. The existing "SPORT HYBRID i-MMD" model features a redesigned lithium-ion battery that's smaller and lighter, and a redesigned motor and manufacturing process that delivers higher power and torque. The engine now features a new exhaust heat recovery system to improve fuel economy in cold weather. This downsizing allows for a larger trunk space of 424 liters, large enough to fit four golf bags (versus three in the previous model). The "HYBRID LX" achieves fuel economy of 31.6 km/L, an improvement of 1.6 km/L compared to the previous model. In terms of equipment, the new model features an electric gear selector, a SPORT mode switch, and a deceleration selector. The standard Honda InterNavi now supports Apple CarPlay. Safety has also been enhanced, with the addition of the Honda SENSING safety driver assistance system, LaneWatch, which assists with checking behind the passenger side when changing lanes or merging, and a parking sensor system that helps with parking in tight spaces. Furthermore, it is the world's first model to support a driving assistance system that utilizes traffic light information, using an advanced optical beacon to display traffic light passing assistance, red light deceleration assistance, and start delay prevention assistance on the meter. The HYBRID EX is the first Honda vehicle in Japan to adopt the Honda Smart Key System with an engine start button.
