The WORLD'S ORIGINAL 2000 FPM Elevators! Mitsubishi Elevators at Sunshine60 Observatory Tokyo, Japan

I have a lot to be thankful for this year, and one of those things is being able to visit Tokyo this year and ride these, along with many other amazing elevators in the World's Largest City! To Celebrate, I couldn't think of anything better than to do so with some rides on some elevators I've been wanting to ride for MANY years, which travel at a top speed of 2000 FPM!!! And not only do these travel at 2000 FPM, but these were the VERY FIRST Elevators in the WORLD to hit that speed when this building opened in 1978. NEARLY 40 YEARS before the U.S. got it's first 2000 FPM elevators at the New One World Trade Center in 2014. And get this, these elevators also travel 40 floors LESS and 600 ft shorter a distance than those elevators which is INSANE and it shows how ahead of their time these elevators are, and it makes the speed of elevators both the same height as these and taller in America look cute in comparison. Now, these elevators have unfortunately (obviously) been fully modernized since this building was originally built, but the fact that these elevators always went at this speed given the buildings' age and still do to this day is absolutely impressive, and despite the mod, I think the motors might actually still be original as these have VERY FORCEFUL Acceleration, Decceleration and a dropping sensation when going down! However, this isn't in a bad way as these elevators are also VERY SMOOTH and don't shake AT ALL! It goes without saying that I was blown away by these elevators, and these were one of several that made the trip for me for sure. It's a shame I couldn't ride these more than once, but I'm glad I got to ride these at all and coming to this building was well worth it. The Observation Deck here was really cool as well, being that this building is located in Ikebukuro and is the tallest building in this neighborhood of Tokyo, it's somewhat removed from rest of the Urban Areas of Tokyo with High Rise Buildings allowing for stunning views of Metropolitan Tokyo and it's never seemingly ending skylines, and the Observatory even has a cheesy but charming Hawaiian theme too! Installed in 1978. (Mitsubishi Elepet with Square Touch/Heat Sensitive buttons) Modernized in 2010-2012. (Mitsubishi with New Cabs, New Controllers and New Fixtures. Lanterns left as is.
