💍 Nathan Grant & Elizabeth Thornton’s beautiful engagement scene in the Season 13 finale of “When Calls the Heart,” intercut with callbacks - both obvious and more subtle. My heart was pulled to dig into the deep layers of meaning across the full scene and bring forward examples from N&E’s past that felt relevant to their various statements in the scene. Some of these are the obvious callbacks - “Always do what you’re afraid to do,” “Yeah, but I was gonna,” etc. Others are more subtle. As I watched and listened to the scene, I tried to find moments in their history that might have inspired each statement. 🥲 The depth in this scene and how uniquely “them” it was brought tears to my eyes, especially as I started digging out the past scenes. As this scene unfolded, it definitely “shone the light” on nearly every facet of N&E’s love story: Overcoming fear Teamwork and support for the one you love Playful and fun Their commitment to the Hope Valley community Blended family of four Words of affirmation Getting “handsy” with each other for both comfort and a passionate kiss AND Elizabeth stepping up to pick the time and place for the proposal. She came through for her sweet, overthinking Nathan and set him up with the perfect moment to shine, just like she’s done many times before! 😁 I own nothing.
