Legendary Racers. This time, we'll be looking at Hiroyuki Kawasaki. Hiroyuki Kawasaki is a former Japanese racing rider from Kyoto Prefecture. He obtained his 50cc license at the age of 14 and became passionate about motocross during high school. In 1965, he became a Suzuki contract rider and eventually switched to road racing. In 1967, he placed third in the 50cc class at the Japanese Grand Prix. In 1968, when Suzuki withdrew from the World Grand Prix, he signed with Yamaha. In 1970, he became the All-Japan Senior Championship champion in the 251cc and above category. In 1976 and 1977, he won the Indonesian Grand Prix. From 1977 to 1982, he was with Suzuki, where he was responsible for the development of 500cc racers. He placed third in the 1981 Austrian Grand Prix. He returned to Yamaha in 1983 and competed in the All-Japan and World Grand Prix races while developing the YZR500. He retired in 1988. He currently serves as a racing advisor for Yamaha.
