Resgate de Surfista Praia Brava Floripa

Lifeguards at Praia Brava, in the north of the island, in Florianópolis, rescued a surfer who was swept by the current onto the rocks on the left side of the beach. The 28-year-old surfer was swept away by the strong waves that hit the Santa Catarina coast last Sunday (January 20th). After several sets of waves, the surfer became trapped near the rocks in a spot known as Garganta. As soon as they saw the surfer approaching the rocks, the lifeguards deployed the jet ski driven by Military Police Officer Ricardo Martins and Civilian Lifeguard Constantino. In the difficult-to-access area, the surfer experienced great difficulty as he was thrown against the shore several times by the violent waves crashing against the rocks. After approaching the area with the jet ski, the civilian lifeguard jumped in and swam to rescue the surfer, while the jet ski driver waited for the right moment to rescue him. After several attempts, the surfer was rescued and safely transported to the beach with the help of the GVC (Ground Force Rescue Team). The victim was conscious but weakened, with bruises on his body from hitting the rocks on the shore. According to Private BM Martins, "the short interval between sets of waves and the difficulty in accessing the area where the victim was, which has strong currents and rocks, made the rescue difficult." The victim received pre-hospital care at the beach's lifeguard station and is doing well. @martins_ricardo
