The GEEST boats to Barry Dock
For decades, the iconic Geest banana boats sailed across the Atlantic, transporting fresh Caribbean bananas from the Leeward Islands to Barry Docks in South Wales. These specialized refrigerated ships ensured the fruit arrived in perfect condition, fueling the UK’s demand for this tropical staple. Once in Barry dock, the local tradesmen were kept busy with a variety of repairs to theses iconic ships.
