Cepeda anuncia desobediencia civil. De la Espriella instala comisión de empalme y auditoria forense

President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella established his transition team with more than 1,300 people and announced a rigorous forensic audit focused on 22 economic sectors to detect possible corruption by the outgoing government. He also confirmed that he will break with institutional tradition by not meeting with outgoing President Gustavo Petro before August 7. Meanwhile, former presidential candidate Iván Cepeda announced he will embark on a path of peaceful civil disobedience after questioning the legitimacy of the president-elect. Cepeda based his stance on De la Espriella's dual U.S. citizenship, alleged foreign interference in the campaign, and the supposed intention to hand over national sovereignty to the U.S. State Department. At the same time, analysts are calling for an end to the stigmatization of voters on both sides in a deeply divided country. Gustavo Gallón, a lawyer and renowned human rights advocate, has died. His death occurred in Switzerland, where he had served as Colombia's ambassador to the UN since 2022.
