Shri Raigadh is famous as the Capital of the Maratha Empire chosen by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1674, serving as the center for administration, military operations and his coronation, symbolizing Maratha pride, strategic strength and impressive Maratha architecture with its unique features like the Ganga Sagar Lake, Hirkani Buruj, Nagarkhana Darwaja and Takmak Tok. The Raigadh Ropeway ride takes about 4 to 5 minutes to reach the top of Raigadh fort, offering a quick and scenic ascent of around 750-760 meters vertically up the mountain, replacing the strenuous climb of over 1,700 steps. The ropeway has restrictions including prohobiting food/drinks, smoking, weapons, animals and intoxicated individuals. A mandatory RFID card obtained through Yatra registration is required. Booking tickets in advance is recommended to avoid long waits, espacially on weekends.
