Influenced by John Coltrane but with a softer tone, Moore moved to the U.S. in 1970, later attending Berklee College of Music. His professional career began with a 1979 Scandinavian tour, followed by a stint with Horace Silver’s quintet (1981–1985). He recorded his debut album, Round Trip, in 1985 and worked with jazz greats like Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard, and Ray Brown. Moore gained wider recognition as a member of The Tonight Show band with Jay Leno (1995–2010). His discography includes albums for Reservoir, Criss Cross, and Savoy, with his 2019 release, Three Score, marking a return to leading his own projects.
