3 Things NOT to Say At Your Drug & Alcohol Evaluation/Assessment | Washington State #law #legal #dui
Were you arrested for a DUI or other alcohol-related criminal offense? There are 3 things to NOT say at you upcoming drug & Alcohol evaluation in Washington State! Most defendants will be required to complete a drug and alcohol assessment also known as a chemical dependency evaluation. Some people are court-ordered and others, on the advice of their criminal defense attorney, will do the evaluation preemptively so they can establish they don't have an issue with drugs or alcohol. The evaluation will help determine what level of treatment, if any, the individual needs to complete. Before you even make an appointment for an evaluation, talk to your criminal defense lawyer about where to go and what to expect. An evaluation can be incredibly helpful for a case but, if you go into it with bad information, it can hurt a case. For a case in Kitsap County, Washington, feel free to reach out to Witt Law Group PS to discuss your options. We have been in Kitsap for 20+ years and handled thousands of cases. Don't trust your results to a non-local attorney or to a law firm that does not have extensive experience in criminal defense. DUI, Physical Control, Hit & Run, Negligent Driving and other alcohol-related crimes can have a very long lasting impact on your ability to drive, seek employment, maintain professional licenses, and so much more. Do not wait to "try it out" with a public defender because that lawyer will not be assigned UNTIL your Arraignment. You've already lost valuable time in your case and you might have missed your 7 day window for your Department of Licensing Hearing. Your DOL hearing is civil in nature so your public defender can't help you anyway. A public defender can only handle the criminal side of your case. Unfortunately, that means your ability to drive and go to work could be in jeopardy. At Witt Law Group, your attorney handles both the criminal and civil side of your DUI/DWI. We will give you the advice and tools you need. If you have a question that you would like answered, please write it in the comments. We will do our best to either answer your question, or do a video on your suggested topic which answers your question.
