ARAI HELMET | ¿Cascos artesanales hoy día? | Visitamos sus fábricas en Japón

Taking advantage of the exclusive international launch of the 2024 Arai Tour-X5 (successor to the Tour-X4) in Japan, the latest generation of its multi-purpose trail helmet (this adventure series boasts 25 years of history), Motorbike Magazine visited all of Arai's factories in Tokyo, from the legendary Saitama-Omiya headquarters (home to the R&D department) established in 1937, to the Shinto factory, and including the district offices in Amanuma (quality control), Minamidai (painting), and Katayanagi (assembly and packaging). A modern office building is also located near the original factory. Except for the Shinto factory, the only one that centralizes all processes, the rest of the helmet manufacturing process is spread across various locations. Witnessing the entire process of creating an Arai helmet firsthand is impressive: manufacturing a helmet from scratch takes approximately 18 hours, depending on the model. All materials used are "Made in Japan," and considering that each step is performed by a team of workers specializing in that specific area, we can simplify it to 22 key stages.
