Designers Sania Maskatiya, Khadija Shah and Misha Lakhani display collections at Karachi fashion wee

(30 Mar 2018) DESIGNERS SANIA MASKATIYA, KHADIJA SHAH AND MISHA LAKHANI DISPLAY COLLECTIONS AT KARACHI FASHION WEEK FINALE Formal and semi-formal along with prêt dominated the ramps on the finale of a three-day fashion week in Karachi Friday (30 MARCH 2018). Designer Sania Maskatiya showcased her formal wear collection with signature silhouettes and intricate embroidery. "It's got a lot of muted color tones, nudes, whites, creams, silver. It's very shimmery. It's a lot of zardoz, haathari (traditional embroidery) work. It's a lot of flowy and structured cuts, kind of juxtaposed together." Fashion house Elan displayed its collection titled 'Nafeesa,' rooted in Sub-continental heritage. The color palette is drawn from the seasonal monsoons and also draws upon Eastern influences. "The color palette is very indigenous to our part of the world. It's very bright, vibrant. The collection is actually a monsoon couture collection," says Khadija Shah, its designer. Umar Sayeed, Misha Lakhani and Jazib Qamar also featured their collections at the finale. While the final day featured formal as well as semi-formal collections, the fashion show featured more prêt collections than before. "Most of these designers that showed today – be it Khaadi, Sania Maskatiya, Elan – they are online. So that's where ready-wear is heading. And today I really liked Sania Maskatiya's collection," says fashion journalist Zurrain Imam. Socialities, glitterati and celebrities rubbed shoulders with designers and textile houses through the three days.
