13: Did We UNDERSTAND the ASSIGNMENT? Are we Building a Solve or Are we Stacking Clues?

Many treasure hunters work hard and build very intricate, beautiful walls. The problem is that sometimes we may have misunderstood the assignment. In a treasure hunt where the final solution is more like a complex blueprint than a single loose clue, understanding the intended design can mean the difference between building something structurally sound and building a beautiful wall we simply cannot see over. The goal is not just to collect impressive pieces, but to understand how those pieces were designed to fit together. When we understand the assignment, our time, effort, and energy can go toward building a stronger solution that actually leads us closer to the treasure. Quick note on language: In this video, I use the word “solve” the way many people in the treasure-hunt community use it — as shorthand for a proposed solution, working theory, or developed interpretation. Yes, until a treasure is found or officially confirmed, every “solve” is still technically a theory. I’m using the familiar community language here so we can stay focused on the bigger picture: how we think, test, and build better solutions. Hopefully soon, someone gets to find a treasure and say, “I found the clues, solved the puzzle, and THAT was the solution!” So, "Hey, let's go find a treasure, y'all!!" ~Heather
