The Cape Wrath Trail - by an Aussie (Part 1)

I’m Martin, an Aussie who’s travelled all the way to Scotland to take on one of the UK’s toughest and most remote long-distance hikes: the Cape Wrath Trail. This is part 1 from Fort William to Shiel Bridge (Day 1 to Day 4) The trail runs for roughly 370 kilometres from Fort William to Cape Wrath at the very north-west tip of Scotland. Unlike many famous trails, there’s no single marked path — it’s a route through some of the wildest country in the Scottish Highlands. What makes it so tough is the constant rough terrain, river crossings, bogs, steep climbs, unpredictable weather, and long stretches without towns or support. It’s a real test of endurance, navigation, and resilience. Over this journey, I’ll be sharing the highs, the lows, and the incredible landscapes along the way. Welcome to the Cape Wrath Trail.
