He holds a PhD in Letters from UERJ (1997) and a PhD in Comparative Literature from Stanford University (2002). He was President of the Brazilian Association of Comparative Literature (ABRALIC, 2016-2017). He is the author of 13 books, including Guerra Cultural e retórica do ódio. Crônicas de um Brasil pós-político (Editora Caminhos, 2020); Machado de Assis: Por uma poética da emulação (Civilização Brasileira, 2013).
