高野山 金剛峯寺参拝(其の二):【特別企画】小池陽人と行く高野山参拝

This time, we were guided by Takai Tomohiro Kamiami of Seiganji Temple, a semi-special head temple of Mount Koya, and visited Kongobu-ji Temple. [Sanno-in Temple] Sanno-in Temple was built as a worship hall for the shrine, and is a gabled building with verandas on both sides, with a width of 21.3 meters and a bay of 7.8 meters. Sanno-in Temple means a place where the local god is worshiped as Sanno, and the current building was rebuilt in 1594. Every year, important events and debates such as the Rissei debate and Misai Shoko are held in this hall. In addition, a monthly service for followers and monk lectures is held on the 16th of each month as a service to Myojin. [West Pagoda] This was built by Shinzen Daitoku, the second abbot of Mount Koya, based on the Gozuki, a plan for the construction of temple buildings by Kobo Daishi. Kobo Daishi had planned to build the Great Pagoda and the Western Pagoda as a pair, as "Hokkaidaishoto" towers, which concretely express the esoteric world of Dainichi Nyorai. However, construction was delayed due to various circumstances, and they were not completed until 886, after Kobo Daishi's death. In the Western Pagoda, while the principal image of the Great Pagoda is Taizo Dainichi Nyorai, the Kongokai Dainichi Nyorai and the four Buddhas of the Taizokai are enshrined. The current pagoda is a Tahoto tower with a balustrade and a gargoyle, rebuilt in 1834, and is 27.27 meters tall. Konpon Daito It is said to have been completed between 816 and 887, taking two generations of Daishi and Shinzen Daitoku to complete. Daishi also called this tower the Hokkai Taisei Tower, and it was built as a symbol of the Konpon Dojo, the main training hall of Shingon Buddhism, so it has been called Konpon Daito since ancient times. It is said to be the first Tahoto style in Japan, and the principal image is Taizo Dainichi Nyorai, surrounded by the four Buddhas of the Vajrayana realm, the sixteen great bodhisattvas painted by painter Domoto Insho on the sixteen pillars, and the eight patriarchs who spread esoteric Buddhism on the four corner walls, making the interior of the hall itself a three-dimensional mandala. It is said to be the first pagoda in Japan in the style of a Tahoto pagoda. The principal image is the Taizo Dainichi Nyorai Buddha, surrounded by the four Buddhas of the Vajrayana realm. The 16 pillars are decorated with the Sixteen Great Bodhisattvas by the painter Domoto Insho, and the four corner walls feature the figures of the Eight Patriarchs who spread esoteric Buddhism. The interior of the building itself is structured as a three-dimensional mandala. [Shrine] In 819, Kobo Daishi invited the deity from Amano Shrine at the foot of the mountain as the local deity, and it became the guardian deity of Mount Koya. As the legend of the founding of Mount Koya tells us, the entire area of Mount Koya was originally the sacred territory of this Nyu Myojin deity. When Kobo Daishi spread esoteric Buddhism, he put forward the idea that its teachings should be respected and protected by the local gods of Japan, which became a major driving force behind the idea of syncretism between Shinto and Buddhism. At Mount Koya, faith in the Four Shrines, which are said to protect and guide practitioners, is also highly valued. There are three shrine buildings; Ichinomiya is Nyu Myojin, Ninomiya is Koya Myojin, and Sannomiya is the main shrine, where the Twelve Princes and the One Hundred and Twenty Gods are enshrined. The structural style of Nyu and Koya Myojin is Kasuga-zukuri, and the main shrine is called Sangensha Nagaremisedana-zukuri, and both are finished with roofs thatched with cypress bark. The current shrine building was rebuilt in 1594 and has been designated an Important Cultural Property. *From the official website of Kongobu-ji Temple, the head temple of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism ■Official website of Kongobu-ji Temple, the head temple of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism https://www.koyasan.or.jp/ ■Site introducing Koyasan Choishimichi (World Heritage Site Koyasan Choishimichi / otent-nankai.jp) https://otent-nankai.jp/contents/choi... *********************** [Every month, we hold a sermon at Suma-dera Temple] Every month, we hold a goma prayer and sutra copying session from 10:00 on the 18th, a goma prayer and sutra copying session from 11:30 on the 20th and 21st at Okunoin, and a goma prayer and sermon from 14:00 on the 21st.
