SOLUTION INSTRUCTIONS This puzzle includes four parts that you put together to make a square shape. The goal of the puzzle is to disassemble the whole puzzle and then put it back together to its square shape. Let's look at how we can disassemble the puzzle. Look for the HANAYAMA printing on the surface of the puzzle. Now place the puzzle flat on the table such that the HANAYAMA printing is on the bottom right corner. Now lift the puzzle by holding the top corners and pull it outwards just like this. This will separate the puzzle into four pieces. On every puzzle piece, there is a moving pin that goes in and out. This pin keeps the pieces locked. When you place the assembled puzzle in the way mentioned earlier, the pins go in and you can pull the pieces out and separate them easily. Now let's look at the puzzle pieces and understand them. We have four pieces with similar shape, two with golden and two with silver color. Each piece has a moving pin on its middle portion. The key for putting the puzzle back is to ensure the pins are not blocking the movement of the pieces. Lets put the pieces back together now. Place the pieces on the table like this. Golden pieces on the left side and silver pieces on the on right side. Now turn the silver piece 180 degree clockwise. This will make the pieces face each other. Place both pieces perpendicular on the surface. And gently join the pieces together to make a hinge-like structure. Do the same for the other set of pieces as well. Turn the silver pieces 180 degrees clockwise, place the pieces perpendicular and join them together like a hinge. Take one of the partially assembled pieces and expand the hinge halfway such that the movement of the pins is blocked by the piece’s arm. Do the same for the other set as well. Now that the pins in the middle of the pieces are blocked you can gently slide them in and close the puzzle. Now you should have fully solved the Hanayama Square Puzzle.
