Congress Suspension Makes No Difference: Manisha Usgaonkar

Former Congress leader Manisha Usgaonkar has said that her suspension from the party will not affect her commitment to raising issues concerning the people, asserting that public service does not depend on being associated with any political party. Reacting to the disciplinary action taken against her, Usgaonkar said she would continue working for the welfare of the people and highlighting public concerns irrespective of her political status. “The Congress suspension does not make any difference to me. One does not need a political party to raise the voice of the people. My work will continue,” she said. Usgaonkar further stated that she had given “100 per cent justice” to the responsibilities entrusted to her during her tenure in the party and had carried out her duties with dedication. She also criticised the recent organisational changes within the Congress, claiming that reshuffles undertaken close to elections indicate a lack of seriousness about forming the government. “The changes being made within the party on the eve of elections do not suggest that Congress is genuinely focused on coming to power,” she remarked.
