WhiskyJason reviews Clonakilty Galley Head Single Malt Irish Whiskey Galley Head Whiskey is a sourced Irish whiskey that was matured and finished in the Clonakilty warehouse directly next to the Atlantic Ocean. Re-shaved, re-toasted wine casks and Bordeaux wine casks were used as finishing barrels. The whiskey is inspired by the Galley Head Lighthouse, which stands over the founder's Scully family's barley fields on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean as well as the Clonakilty Warehouse. The lighthouse was built in 1875 near the town of Clonakilty and towers 53 meters above the Atlantic Ocean.
