Mercedes Carné backed by Carlos Di Sarli - Rebelde - 1932

You won't find this in the Di Sarli discographies because his name doesn't appear on the label, but when Di Sarli lost his recording contract with Victor in August 1931 he was signed up by Brunswick Argentina to back the singer Mercedes Carné. There were 22 titles in total, some of which are thought lost for ever. Brunswick 2208-A [matrix 2519] Transfer: AMP Japan (from AMP CD-1081) Music: Juan José Riverol Lyrics: Francisco Loiácono "Barquina" From the dates garnered by Gabriel Valiente from the unpublished manuscript of Jorge Angella this recording would have taken place in March 1932, a few weeks after Fresedo's version on the same label [matrix 2467]. The style of the Di Sarli orchestra is very much apparent, with the jazzy touches of his left hand (0:14, 1:06, 1:46) being one of the biggest differences between the two interpretations. It's also a real treat to have the melody carried by the bandoneons in the instrumental break (1:24). The whole album is already on youtube but very hard to find with the search function.
