MORE KM OPENED! HARARE - MAZOWE Dual Carriageway Project, Zimbabwe

As of early 2026, over 20 kilometers of the dual carriageway have been completed and opened to traffic . The most recent milestone was the opening of a 4.9km stretch between Christon Bank and Blueridge, which motorists have welcomed for easing the long-standing congestion on this busy route . This project forms part of the broader Harare-Kanyemba highway upgrade, a 357km corridor that aims to transform connectivity between Harare and northern regions, eventually linking to Zambia and the DRC . The dualisation is expected to boost economic activity significantly, particularly for the agriculture and mining sectors in Mashonaland Central province . Key details: Contractor: Exodus and Company Program: Falls under the Government's Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP2) Current Focus: Construction is continuing northwards, with the dual carriageway planned to reach up to Mazowe (approximately 33km from Harare) Tollgate Update: Minister Felix Mhona has announced plans to remove the Esbank tollgate from its current location and relocate it further north to ease bottlenecks The project is being overseen by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, with funding administered through ZINARA .
