Two large nuclear reactors will be built in Yeongdeok, North Gyeongsang Province, and one Small Modular Reactor (SMR) will be built in Gijang, Busan. According to Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), the New Nuclear Power Plant Site Selection Evaluation Committee selected these candidate sites for the construction of the new nuclear power plants. This is the first time in 15 years that new nuclear power plant sites have been decided. If construction proceeds as planned, the SMR is scheduled for completion in 2035, while the two nuclear reactors are expected to be completed in 2037 and 2038, respectively. 【 Anchor 】 Can we view this as a full-scale expansion of nuclear power? 【 Reporter 】 The government has decided to proceed with the construction of nuclear power plants as planned, following policy debates and public opinion surveys.
