La Festa dei Ceri, identità di un Popolo

The Festa dei Ceri (Festival of the Candles), held in Gubbio every May 15th, beginning at dawn, represents the coat of arms and identity of the Umbria Region. A large crowd gathered in Piazza Grande for the Raising of the Three Candles, with the Capodici (Chiefs) Gabriele Fofi for Saint Ubaldo, Francesco Spogli for Saint George, and Alessandro Lepri for Saint Anthony. Also present were the President of the Umbria Region, Stefania Proietti, the President of the Province of Perugia, Massimiliano Presciutti, and numerous other dignitaries for a festival that symbolizes friendship and joy, passed down from generation to generation since the 12th century and held in honor of the Patron Saint Ubaldo.
