A pause from the chaos. And for me, nothing resets the brain quite like a good dim sum run. I stumbled across this spot in Richmond recently with my good friend Albert and realized it's a gem! It's called "The Food Court", and the concept is simple: grab a cart, roll it along the counter, and point at whatever catches your eye. Every dish is $4.99 CAD...or to the friend south of the border, it's $3.50 USD. The best part? Everything is made fresh right in front of you. The xiao long bao...folded to order in the open kitchen — you can literally watch them pleating each one. The quality caught me off guard for the price point. I loaded up my cart with all the classics — har gao, siu mai, char siu bao, pork ribs, and of course those XLB — and it all came out steaming hot! Feeling thirsty? -unlimited soy milk and tea for $1. The staff are super friendly and the ordering process is half the fun — you're pointing, they're handing, everyone's smiling as we each try to understand each other. It's got that energy you love in a neighbourhood discovery. I noticed most people weren't just eating there — they were packing up boxes to take home. That's when you know a place has nailed it. Great food + great value = you leave with twice as much as you came for. Just a few points, this is in the city of Richmond (Metro Vancouver) and it's not really 24hrs as indicated on the sign...as least as of this writing...They're in soft opening right now (7am-10pm), but once they go, it'll be full 24 hours and BBQ and hot pot... If you're in Richmond and need a break from the usual, go find this spot.
