Spanning 17 acres (6.9 ha), it is one of the largest malls in India with a total built up area of the project is 1,850,000 sq ft (172,000 m2) including convention center and hotel. The total area of mall is 731,950 sq ft (68,000 m2).[2] It contains nearly 300 outlets, including food courts, restaurants, family entertainment zones, a multiplex, ice skating rink, gaming arena, beauty parlors, a toy train joy ride and bowling alley.[3][4][5][6] The mall was opened in March 2013 by then Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Oommen Chandy.[7][8] The entire project, consisting of the shopping mall with four customized shopping levels and a 5-star hotel, was designed by the UK based architectural firm Atkins. The construction contract of the project was awarded to Shapoorji Pallonji, an Indian conglomerate. The 5-star business hotel located within the campus of the mall is operated by Marriott Hotels & Resorts. With an average daily footfall of more than 80,000, it is one of the most visited places in Kerala.[9] By 2023, ten years from the opening, LuLu Mall Kochi has been visited by 250 million people and had witnessed the entry of 3 million vehicles.[10] The estimated cost for this project was more than ₹1,600 crore (US$273.05 million).[11] The property is owned and managed by Abu Dhabi based LuLu Group International. The shops and restaurants in LuLu Mall are franchised via Lulu Group’s own retail operations company called Tablez.
