Download our app now and watch this comprehensive analytical interview with Adriana Castellanos to strategically channel your aid. 👉 https://onelink.to/4h4t9t Adriana Castellanos, director of the Help for Venezuela Foundation, provides an operational assessment of the international aid mobilization after 12 continuous days of work following the June 24 earthquake. From a purely analytical perspective, Castellanos warns that the massive outpouring of solidarity must shift from an emotional impulse to an efficient logistical strategy, noting that traditional supplies like clothing and large shipments of bottled water are no longer operational priorities. To optimize transport, the director details the urgent need to replace the volume of liquid water with water purification tablets, which drastically reduce the aircraft's weight and maximize distribution on the ground. She states, "A plane carrying water with water purification tablets takes up much less space and can be transported... it can yield 5 liters of water." Faced with the sight of thousands injured in hospitals and shelters, the director describes the devastating medical toll of the earthquake, revealing a high rate of amputations, ranging from infants to adults, due to collapsed structures or inadequate rescue operations. In response to this immediate reality, the foundation has prioritized the collection of mobility devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, and canes, along with compact first-aid kits and a wide range of specialized medications for hypertension, diabetes, thyroid conditions, and severe anxiety. Additionally, Castellanos frankly addressed the stark need to supply thousands of body bags urgently requested by organizations on the ground, confirming that "the number of bags needed is not as high as it seems; the United Nations delivered 10,000... we've been sending them by air because they are urgently needed." Regarding the infrastructure in the shelters of Caracas and La Guaira, Castellanos explained that overcrowding in the camps severely limits storage capacity, making it impossible to receive large volumes of clothing. To mitigate the impact of entire families sleeping outdoors, the foundation launched the "Little Mattress" campaign—focused on crib-sized mattresses to optimize available space—and has distributed more than 1,032 mattresses in close partnership with organizations such as Caritas and Catholic educational networks. The activist also emphasizes the importance of including simple toys in the shipments to mitigate the severe psychological impact on children in the massive shelters set up in public spaces like Parque del Este. Finally, the director underscores that the sustainability of this humanitarian aid effort depends directly on international financial support to cover the high costs of transportation and internal mobilization. Despite tax exemptions, consolidating more than four containers and the constant shipment of air cargo require a flow of capital that the foundation channels through platforms like GoFundMe, Zelle, and PayPal. Castellanos concludes by urging citizens to consult the dynamic lists on their website and to use all Bonjour locations as authorized collection centers, reminding them that the success of the operation lies in maintaining civil resilience and rigorous technical monitoring of the real needs reported from Venezuela.
